ACMA Cracks Down on Illegal Gambling Websites in Australia

The Australian media regulator, ACMA, is taking strong measures against unlawful international gambling websites. Hundreds of sites have already been blocked, and now internet service providers are being directed to restrict access to more, including well-known platforms such as Casino Moons and Winnerama. The ACMA cautions that these websites are functioning illicitly according to Australian regulations and advises consumers to utilize licensed platforms only. This initiative is one part of a broader strategy to safeguard Australians from the risks associated with unregulated internet gambling. The ACMA recommends that everyone verify the legality of a gambling website before engaging in any gaming activities.

The Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) has pursued action against Proxous, claiming the business intentionally permitted thirteen internet casinos to utilize its “Real Time Gaming (RTG)” platform. These gambling websites have been illicitly providing their services to Australian citizens.

This marks the initial instance of the ACMA issuing an official caution to an organization for its participation in unlawful online wagering activities through the supply of software.
