The UK National Lottery’s new operator, Allwyn, is restructuring its leadership team. Joining the board is Sebastian Coe, a renowned figure in British sports and a former Olympic athlete. This change comes as Allwyn gets ready to assume control from Camelot, the lottery’s longstanding manager.
Several shifts are also underway. Keith Mills, instrumental in Allwyn’s winning lottery bid, is leaving his position on the board. His presence will be missed, but he will remain as a consultant.
Allwyn has recruited two new members to fill the vacancy. Coe will take on the role of Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, while Simon Burke joins as an Independent Non-Executive Director and head of the Audit Committee.
Both Coe and Burke held non-executive director positions at Camelot, the present National Lottery operator. Their expertise will be essential in guaranteeing a seamless handover as the lottery progresses to its upcoming third and fourth licenses. However, Coe will resign from his position at Camelot prior to joining Allwyn, the incoming licensee.
