Paul Scully recently assumed the role of the UK’s gambling minister, succeeding Damian Collins, whose tenure was brief, lasting only a few months. Collins, in turn, had replaced Chris Philp, who resigned in July coinciding with Boris Johnson’s departure.
This constant turnover at the helm has left everyone speculating about when the government will finally unveil its revised gambling regulations. The review has been in progress for an extended period, with Philp even indicating its readiness prior to his exit.
However, with a new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, and now a new gambling minister, perhaps Scully will be the one to usher these reforms to completion. The wagering industry certainly hopes so and has expressed its willingness to collaborate with Scully to strike the right balance between safeguarding individuals and fostering industry expansion.
