The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has requested that internet service providers (ISPs) prohibit access to four additional gambling websites, which the organization asserts have been operating unlawfully in Australia.
The ACMA conducted an examination of Bao Casino, Pokie Place, Reels of Joy, and Ozwin Casino following the receipt of numerous grievances concerning these four sites.
The ACMA determined that each website contravened the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001 and has requested that ISPs restrict access to the sites within the nation.
“Blocking websites presents a valuable opportunity for the public to gain knowledge about illicit gambling services through the messages that appear when they endeavor to access the sites,” the ACMA stated.
“The ACMA reminds consumers that even if a service seems authentic, it is improbable that it will have substantial customer protection measures in place. This implies that Australians utilizing illegal gambling services are at risk of financial losses.”
Since the ACMA initially made blocking requests in November 2019, 263 unlawful gambling websites have been blocked, while over 130 websites have withdrawn from the Australian market since the agency commenced enforcing new illegal offshore gambling regulations in 2017.
In the month of March, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) also requested the blocking of an additional ten online gambling platforms, including Play Croco, Aussie Play, Golden Reels, and All Spins Win. Previously, in February, they had already requested the blocking of eighteen other websites.
