Fortuitous Crypto has been instructed to depart Sweden. The Swedish gaming authority, Spelinspektionen, determined that Fortuitous Crypto was operating in Sweden without proper authorization.
They examined Fortuitous Crypto’s online platform and discovered that it featured Swedish language choices, Swedish terms and conditions, and targeted Swedish clientele with promotional materials. They also found that Swedish customers were not barred from registering on the site.
Fortuitous Crypto’s parent organization, SG International NV, headquartered in Curacao, was given an opportunity to address the regulator’s concerns but failed to do so.
Consequently, the regulator has included Fortuitous Crypto on its list of prohibited websites. This marks the initial step in the regulator’s strategy to suppress unlicensed gambling. If Fortuitous Crypto does not withdraw from Sweden, they will be subject to financial penalties. If they persist in their refusal to leave, the regulator will engage law enforcement.
This is not the first instance of the regulator taking action against a Curacao-based gambling enterprise. In September, they directed Ease Gaming NV, the entity behind Casineia.com, to depart Sweden as well.
The Swedish administration in June dropped a proposal that would have granted officials the authority to ban all unauthorized offshore betting, irrespective of whether the platform was specifically targeting Swedish customers.
