Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, the leader of the French National Gambling Authority (ANJ), has been chosen as the new head of the European Forum of Gambling Regulators (GREF).
The GREF group also selected a new leadership team, made up of top officials from gambling regulators across Europe. The organization was formed in 1989 to encourage communication and collaboration among European gambling regulators, working together to create policies.
The new leadership team has seven members, including Falque-Pierrotin from the ANJ as the head. Anders Dorph, the Director General of the Danish Gambling Authority, serves as the deputy head, and Tim Miller, the Executive Director of the UK Gambling Commission, is the treasurer.
Sarah Kelly, the General Counsel of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, serves as the secretary. Margaret Clavey from the Belgian Gambling Commission, Alt Hammervold from the Norwegian Lottery Foundation, and Kinga Valda from the Malta Gaming Authority are members of the leadership team.
The new leadership team will have its first review in May 2024, which will take place at the next GREF yearly gathering in Malta.
GREF stated that they hope to enhance communication between European regulators in the new market landscape.
Its objective is to assist gaming authorities in comprehending emerging patterns and discovering legal remedies.
“In an era of rapid transformation, we must scrutinize established regulations and ensure the safeguarding of participants. The European Union plays a pivotal role in this endeavor,” Falque-Pierrotin stated.
“We all confront similar challenges, and we’ve engaged in productive discussions. I believe that in today’s intricate environment, regulatory bodies must advocate, engage in comprehensive dialogue, and safeguard participants.”
