The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) has dispatched a notice of intent (LOI) to all entities keen on securing a sports wagering permit. These organizations must finalize the document by the end of August, 2022.
The MGC clarified that the LOI is not a formal application for a sports wagering license. They emphasized that not submitting the LOI does not preclude an organization from applying for a license at a later date.
The MGC aims to gauge the level of interest in obtaining a license. They stated: “As the MGC continues to oversee and establish sports wagering in Massachusetts, the MGC is requesting that any entity interested in acquiring a sports wagering license submit this LOI to gain a clear understanding of the extent of interest in sports wagering licenses.”
Governor Charlie Baker signed the Massachusetts Sports Betting Act on August 10th, legalizing sports wagering in the state. He also designated the MGC as the new regulatory authority for the market.
