Information released by iGaming Ontario (iGO), the entity overseeing online gambling within the Canadian province, reveals that total gambling revenue reached C$457 million, representing a 71% surge from the second quarter. Concurrently, the count of active player accounts climbed to 910,000, marking a 45% increase from the second quarter.
The average monthly expenditure per active player account in the third quarter amounted to C$167, reflecting an 18% rise from the second quarter.
The aggregate sum of wagers placed during the three-month period concluding on December 31, 2022, totaled C$11.5 billion ($8.6 billion/€7.9 billion/£7 billion), signifying a 91% increase from the preceding quarter.
iGaming Ontario reported the presence of 36 operators as of December 31, indicating a 50% expansion from the second quarter. Similarly, the number of gambling websites reached 68, representing a 62% increase from the second quarter.
These figures encompass all entities subject to iGO’s regulatory framework, excluding products offered by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
iGO operates as a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and bears responsibility for the management and operation of online gambling through private operators.
Ontario formally inaugurated its legal and regulated online gambling marketplace in April 2022.
