Fresh limitations in Queensland have compelled Star Entertainment Group’s brick-and-mortar gambling establishments to shut their doors. The authorities have ordered the closure of these casinos in response to the recent COVID-19 surge. The confinement commenced on June 29th and will persist for a minimum of three days. Consequently, the Star Gold Coast casino and Treasury Casino and Hotel in Brisbane will remain closed for the duration of the lockdown. Initially, the government declared only partial restrictions, but following the emergence of additional cases, they opted for a complete lockdown. Recent statistics indicate that there were four new infections today, elevating the cumulative case count in Queensland to 1,696. Star Entertainment Group has affirmed that they will continue to compensate their staff during the lockdown period. Other regions have also implemented new restrictions that have resulted in the closure of land-based casinos.
New South Wales has extended its stay-at-home directive until July 9th, resulting in the closure of Crown Sydney and Star Sydney casinos.
Western Australia has also implemented restrictions in the Perth and Peel regions, leading to the temporary closure of casinos for a minimum of three days.
Conversely, Victoria is relaxing its restrictions, permitting Crown Melbourne to operate with certain limitations.
