Vietnams lottery organization, Vietlott, is planning to experiment with a novel approach to ticket distribution utilizing text messaging in the latter part of this year. This initiative follows a successful first half of the year, during which the company achieved substantial financial gains, reaching a remarkable 2.3 trillion Vietnamese dong in revenue.
Their sales witnessed a significant increase of 55.2% compared to the corresponding period last year. Vietlott distributes its lottery tickets across 59 out of 63 provinces in Vietnam. They awarded a total of 1.3 trillion Vietnamese dong in prizes, with 600 billion allocated to the grand prize and 700 billion distributed among other winning categories.
Furthermore, Vietlott contributed 700 million Vietnamese dong to the community through taxes and other initiatives.
In the coming months, Vietlott intends to commence ticket sales in Hau Giang and Yen Bai provinces, expanding their reach to a total of 61 provinces. The company only requires authorization to sell in Tra Vinh and Cao Bang provinces to achieve nationwide distribution of their lottery.
During the final three months of the year, Vietlott, the Vietnamese lottery enterprise, intends to enter the digital sales arena, collaborating with mobile network providers Vinaphone, Mobifone, and Viettel. However, this endeavor necessitates authorization from the Ministry of Finance. Vietlott anticipates this move to generate over 4 trillion Vietnamese dong in revenue and contribute 1.2 trillion Vietnamese dong to the national treasury.
Since Vietlott assumed control of the national lottery operations in 2016, total sales have reached 16 trillion Vietnamese dong, with roughly 8.8 trillion Vietnamese dong returned to participants as winnings. Furthermore, Vietlott has disbursed 4.5 trillion Vietnamese dong to provinces and cities for investments in healthcare, education, climate change mitigation, and social welfare initiatives.
