The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM) has unveiled a new online resource called the Parent Hub. This digital platform is designed to equip parents of young gamers with the knowledge they need to navigate the online gaming landscape safely.
The Parent Hub provides a comprehensive glossary of gaming terminology and helpful guides to assist parents in understanding the games their children engage in.
“Our primary objective is to safeguard children and adolescents who are growing up in the digital gaming environment,” stated Kev Clealnd, YGAM’s Operations Director. “A significant aspect of this mission is empowering parents to comprehend video games and the numerous benefits they can offer, while also raising awareness of potential risks.
“The Parent Hub will furnish parents with the essential information they require to ensure their children’s safety and security within the gaming realm.”
The introduction of this website is a testament to YGAM’s unwavering dedication to enhancing education within the gaming sector. Earlier this month, YGAM advocated for the integration of educational support in the Gambling Act review.
“It’s a momentous occasion to be launching the new Parent Hub this week,” remarked Amanda Atkinson, YGAM’s Head of Parent Programme Delivery.
We collaborated extensively with parents, video game enthusiasts, youth, academics, and educators to develop a website that provides parents with a wealth of information and support without inducing feelings of stress or bewilderment. It was a truly engaging process.
